Dear Neighbor,
Today I announced my candidacy for the Honolulu City Council District 1 (Leeward Coast) seat in the 2012 election. The people of Ewa Beach and I have worked hard to dramatically improve our community. We’ve accomplished many things together and I am excited about the opportunity to share our successes with the entire Leeward Coast as the District 1 councilmember.
I have a leadership record focused on direct results. During my four terms as state representative, my district has received over $600 million for new roads, schools, and many other projects that benefited the community. Crime has also gone down and pro-victim laws were also passed.
Eight years ago, our parks and beaches were dumping grounds and no one was helping us with this problem. My goal was to unite the community to change this, and to get the respect that we deserve. I am proud of the people of Ewa Beach who helped to move us toward the goal of making it the beautiful community it deserves to be. I want to inspire the same momentum throughout the Leeward Coast.
As councilwoman, I will continue to focus on bringing good jobs to the Leeward Coast. I will also continue to work on easing traffic congestion, ensuring easy access to community healthcare and lowering the cost of living and doing business on Oahu.
The Leeward Coast has been reinventing itself for many years, but I believe our best days are ahead of us. Residents have a right to effective leadership and improvements that respects our way of life. I’ll continue to take to heart what residents tell me about the everyday issues they face.
